Saint Paul College is a comprehensive two-year institution and awards Associate of Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science degrees, as well as, diplomas and certificate programs in liberal arts, fine arts, health sciences, business, engineering, and career & technical education programs. The Dean of STEM will provide executive leadership and educational management of the academic and careers areas in Sciences, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The Dean provides leadership and direction to faculty regarding instructional development and curriculum review; develops and implements strategies to increase enrollment and student success; ensures that Saint Paul College's commitment to equity and inclusion is reflected in staffing and in the content of the instructional programs and courses; creates strategic goals for program development; establishes and reviews transfer and articulation agreements with four-year colleges and universities; collaborates with business and industry; maintains accreditation standards in the programs; promotes a positive environment for teaching and learning; and advocates for the College and for students, staff, and various departments and initiatives. The Academic dean will collaborate with faculty, the Director of Resource Development, and the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) to secure local, state, and national grants that promote the mission and strategic planning of the College. This position reports to the CAO and is a member of the College leadership team.
The successful candidate should have an appropriate combination of education, training, and experience that includes extensive expertise in program and curriculum development, program review and enhancement, accreditation processes, continuous quality improvement processes, and budget and fiscal management.
Master's degree in a STEM discipline OR related field from an accredited institution OR a Master's degree in any discipline with experience leading or working in a STEM-related field;
Three years of related experience in higher education;
A successful record of maintaining and sustaining a cohesive relationship with faculty and staff and building a cohesive and diverse team;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including group and public speaking;
Demonstrated commitment to the role and mission of a community college;
Experience in organizing and writing reports, grants, and presentations;
Demonstrated experience with developing partnerships with business/industries, community partners, and Community Based Organizations;
Demonstrated effort to improve cultural competence and foster equity and inclusion.
Doctorate in a STEM discipline or related field or in Education Administration from an accredited institution;
Knowledge of technical and community college organization, curriculum, goals, vision, fiscal regulations and procedures;
Knowledge of innovative programs and pedagogy designed to serve diverse and non-traditional and adult students;
Teaching or training experience.
The hiring range for this position is $76,962 $110,000 with excellent benefits. The full salary range is $123,143. Placement within the salary range for this position is determined on the basis of relevant experience and education and in accordance with the current Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Personnel Plan for Administrators.
