Stephen Gaynor School is an independent, special education school for bright children with learning differences ages three to fourteen. Stephen Gaynor School recently expanded to a two-building campus totaling nearly 80,000 square feet. The expansion has allowed the school to grow both academically and in the arts, reaching more children with learning differences.

We are currently seeking an experienced Full-Time Math Specialist to join our dynamic faculty.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Teach and support one-on-one, in small groups, or in the classroom, providing remediation and/or enrichment
Monitor each student’s progress in math during classroom observations and collaborate with to other Math Specialists/Teachers to create and implement appropriate interventions
Identify and develop resources to enhance the implementation of appropriately differentiated curriculum
Effectively mentor/coach classroom teachers by planning instruction, modeling lessons and providing curriculum guidance
Visit classrooms and engage teachers in conversations about effective instructional strategies, methods, and materials
Work collaboratively with others and establish effective working relationships to best support teachers and students
Timing: Position to begin August 20, 2018.
Master’s degree in Special Education and/or Mathematics is required
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience in the area of mathematics
Experience with Singapore Math and Stern Structural Arithmetic preferred
Understanding on instructing using the Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract (CPS) approach
Deep and broad understanding of mathematical content and pedagogy at the elementary school level
