The Math Specialist position at Washington Episcopal School (WES) works with students, teachers, administrators, and parents in support of the learning and development of WES students, particularly in the area of mathematics.
Math Specialist Responsibilities
Provide small and whole group instruction in the elementary and middle divisions of the school.
Collaborate with individual teachers though co-planning, co-teaching, and coaching.
Lead math curriculum reviews, evaluations, revisions, designs, and implementations.
Provide professional development and instructional support for teachers as well as parent education.
Meet regularly with teams of teachers and administrators to discuss children, programs, and progress and to coordinate math learning goals with classroom teachers
Assist teachers with tracking data to determine the effectiveness of interventions
Assess students in order to establish goals and objectives for students, and regularly review these with teachers, administrators, and parents
Effectively use extensive knowledge of recent research and development in educating students in math
Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in math education or related field
Minimum of 3 years of highly successful math teaching
Strong knowledge base in the areas of math education and educational best practices
Experience and comfort collaborating with and presenting to faculty, administrators, and parents
