The Kew-Forest School seeks a dynamic, hardworking, full-time Middle and Upper School Math Teacher for the 2018-19 school year and beyond.
The ideal candidate is someone who understands and enjoys young people (ages 11-18) and encourages them to engage with the content and someone who loves math and inspires students to love it as well.
Other ideal attributes include a sense of humor, commitment, patience, positive energy, and clarity – the ability to explain math in a way that anyone can understand.
Finally, the teacher should model and promote character, respect, and honesty.
The teacher will teach four sections – with no more than three preps. The actual courses will be determined based on the individual’s strengths, but the teacher should be capable of teaching any course from sixth grade pre-algebra through advanced high school mathematics.
Teaching experience, preferably in the independent school world;
Degree in mathematics or related subject or comparable experience with math;
Supportive, student-centered approach, geared toward students with a variety of levels and learning styles;
Desire to mentor students in an advisory role outside the classroom.
