The New Community School is currently hiring a Middle School Math Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.
This teacher will teach small classes of Middle School students in a supportive, professional environment.
Job Description: The teacher will:
Teach small classes (6-8 students/class) designed to provide diagnostic and prescriptive remedial instruction in basic math skills for Middle School students using varied instructional strategies.
Contribute to the rich Middle School student life program.
Serve as the faculty advisor to a small group of students.
Facilitate ongoing communication with parents regarding student progress, including formal written reports in accordance with the school calendar.
Teach an additional electives course as needed.
Participate in the school’s extensive pre-service/in-service training and mentoring program.
Perform other supervisory duties (i.e., athletic coaching) as assigned.
Requirements: The ideal candidate must possess:
A strong interest in learning disabilities and in facilitating basic math skill improvement using varied instructional strategies.
A bachelor’s degree, Virginia state licensure, and two years’ teaching experience.
Experience in working with students with learning differences is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
A desire and willingness to grow professionally and work as part of a team.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience.
