JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will provide instruction in developmental and college level Mathematics, design and update curriculum and work with area education providers. The primary responsibility of a member of the teaching faculty in the Virginia Community College System shall be to provide quality instruction for the students. At SWCC, the major emphasis shall be on excellent teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, various distance education media, and related activities - to help the student develop his interests and abilities to his fullest capacity in order to become a better person, a better worker, and a better citizen. Other duties shared by teaching faculty include student advising and student placement, student activities, sponsorship of student organizations, supervision of workstudy students; college service activities; professional development activities and community service. This position reports directly to the Dean of Health Technologies, Humanities, Mathematics, Natural Science and Social Science and indirectly to the Vice President for Instruction.
