The Academic Enrichment Center at Curry College is accepting applications for part-time Professional Tutors. The Professional Math/Quantitative Tutor provides Math/Quantitative tutoring for all undergraduate, continuing education and graduate students on an individual and small group appointment basis. Courses that require tutoring include, but are not limited to, Problem Solving Strategies in Mathematics, Statistics, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Quantitative Analysis, and Geometry. This position works part-time weekly hours during the Academic Year (August through May).
Tutors Undergraduate Students;
Tutors Continuing Education and Graduate students;
Supports students’ use of math class technology, ie. my Math Lab, etc.;
Manages Appointment Scheduling Software:
Assists Students in registering for on-line accounts;
Prepares Math Lab/Quantitative Center usage reports regularly;
Coordinates/Mentors Math/Quantitative Peer Tutors
Communicates with scheduled peer math/quantitative tutors;
Trains/consults with peer math/quantitative tutors where appropriate;
Communicates with Math/Quantitative Faculty where appropriate
Minimum Qualifications and skills:
Master’s Degree in Mathematics.
3 years teaching/tutoring math experience in high school or college.
Must be a team player with excellent customer service and helping skills
Knowledge of selected subject matter in which he/she is providing tutoring services.
Ability to develop and foster positive working relationships with students and fellow employees.
A sincere desire, sensitivity and willingness to serve a diverse population of learners.
Ability to work mornings, afternoons or evenings.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Access), and Blackboard.
Ability to represent the College with a positive and professional presentation to all constituents, including students, prospective students, visitors and faculty.
PhD in Mathematics.
At the College’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the college, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
