General Statement of Duties:
The TRiO Program for Student Achievement (PSA) seeks a creative and knowledgeable part-time Professional Math Tutor. The Professional Tutor provides individual instruction/support to students with various disabilities in the TRiO center in Lowell. Math topics include college prep through Pre-Calculus, including Statistics and Algebra. MCC uses the RAMP-UP program classroom which is an individualized learning environment that utilizes a technology based program to prepare for college level math.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Tutor/assist students with math concepts
Encourage students to develop a systematic approach to studying that will serve them throughout their math sequence
Maintain ongoing communication with and between students, faculty, and director
Perform other duties consistent with the position of a Professional Tutor
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

Experience tutoring and/or teaching math.
Ability to provide clear and concise explanations of mathematical concepts and procedures.
Strong time management, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work one on one with students of varying levels of math abilities.
Ability to work with diverse students, staff, and faculty.
Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
Location: Primary work location is on the Lowell campus.
Salary: $28.29 per hour; eligible for earned paid time off in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Approximate employment period is 15 weeks per semester during the academic year.
Hours: Approximately 14 hours per week, flexible hours between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, during the academic year (approximately 15 weeks each semester). Training will be provided to new hires.
