The Teacher plans and administers the integrated math instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Directors, state and federal agencies. He/she will create an environment that encourages learning, motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to establish and continue a firm foundation to perpetuate the learning experience through the post-secondary education and/or career opportunities. The Teacher will utilize all resources available to establish a cooperative relationship with parents, staff members and administrators to support each student's opportunity to learn and grow in educational and life experiences. The position of Teacher shall include active participation in the school's operation to support a positive learning environment. This position reports to and is evaluated annually by the Principal and/or his/her designee.
Founded in 1972, PACHS takes a holistic approach linking education to the individual, social, emotional, and academic needs of our students and empowering them to be active participants in creating change at the global, local, and personal level. Courses are designed to meet competency-based initiatives and aligned with Common Core state standards. Instruction integrates community-based themes, which engage students in critical thinking and community inquiry. Classroom instruction is project and problem based with an emphasis on higher order thinking skills of inquiry and analysis in Humboldt Park. Our mission is to provide a quality educational experience needed to empower students to engage in critical thinking and social transformation, from the classroom to the Puerto Rican community, based on the philosophical foundation of self-determination, a methodology of self-actualization and an ethics of self-reliance.
Bachelor’s degree and a Professional Educator’s license with Secondary Math endorsement
Highly Qualified in Math
Bilingual (Spanish and English) – preferred
