Math Emporium Coordinator
Contractor (18 hrs/week)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Framingham State University Math Emporium is part of a comprehensive student support network aimed at student success. The Math Emporium is designed to assist students who struggle with math, especially those who would otherwise be assigned to non-credit bearing math remediation courses. Students who require remediation (based on admissions criteria) take introductory level, credit-bearing math courses with a weekly two hour co-requisite remediation session in the Math Emporium.
The Math Emporium Coordinator is responsible for planning and organizing the activities of the Math Emporium, including scheduling professional tutors/contractors who will be working in the Math Emporium. The Coordinator will work closely with faculty in the Department of Mathematics who are teaching courses with co-remediation and with the Academic Success Coordinator for Supplemental Instruction in the Center for Academic Success and Achievement who oversees Supplemental Instruction Leaders. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, providing staff support to the Associate Dean of Academic Success, managing the activities of Math Emporium staff, maintaining a tracking system to evaluate the impact of student interventions, and interfacing with Mathematics Department faculty to coordinate just-in-time remediation with course requirements.

Math Emporium Professional Tutors/Contractors
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach Emporium sessions and model effective teaching techniques for other professional tutors/contractors.
Work with faculty to ensure co-remediation targets are met in the Emporium.
Supervise professional tutors/contractors to work in the Math Emporium, including orientation to Math Emporium activities; schedule work hours; and supervise.
Coordinate math lab coverage with the Academic Success Coordinator for Supplemental Instruction in CASA.
Assist the Associate Dean of Academic Success and the Chair of Mathematics in planning and implementing the activities of the Math Emporium.
Monitor course offerings and recommend additions, changes, or deletions to meet needs of students.
Provide administrative assistance to immediate supervisor; prepare and present recommendations and reports; coordinate activities with other CASA programs.
Review need for equipment, supplies and instructional materials and recommend purchases.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in mathematics or related STEM field required; Master's degree in mathematics or related STEM field preferred.
This is a part-time, non-benefited contract position for 18 hours/week with a rate of $25-30/hour, commensurate with qualifications.
