The Part-Time Math Teacher is a professional, experienced and passionate educator with teaching experience at the lower school level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach an Advanced Math class of 2-5 students
Design daily lesson plans and differentiated homework
Update the Class Website weekly
Maintain communication with parents throughout the year on progress, goals, strategies, and next steps
Collaborate with the 3rd and 4th grade math teacher on developing and designing an engaging curriculum for all learners.
Strong classroom management skills
Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, New Roads philosophy and approach to education
Demonstrate commitment to social justice and working with a diverse community
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of subject matter and effectiveness in teaching
Demonstrate an ability to assess students at their appropriate developmental levels
Maintain and communicate high expectations and boundaries in a consistently kind, clear and respectful manner
Additional duties as assigned
Ability to differentiate instruction for the group’s specific academic needs
Familiarity with Singapore Math, but ability to integrate inquiry-based problems and projects.
Strong background in math instruction at the lower elementary level
Experience and interest in differentiated instruction and a project-based, constructivist approach to teaching and learning
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Strong foundation in child development
Possess excellent classroom management skills
3+ years teaching experience at the lower elementary level, preferably in an independent school
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related educational field required
