Rye Country Day is seeking a part-time Lower School Math Specialist willing to work two days a week with small groups of students in kindergarten through Grade 4. As a member of the Lower School Faculty, the Math Specialist works closely with grade level homeroom teachers and the Math Consultant and reports to the Division Principal.
Preferred qualifications: Candidates should have a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, as well as experience as a Math Specialist. Training in various math programs, especially Singapore Math is essential. The candidate must be an exceptional educator who is enthusiastic, motivated, innovative, and collaborative with strong communication skills.
Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the math specialist include, but are not limited to:
Working with faculty to identify students who are having difficulties in math and who may be in need of support.
Working with students who need math support connected to the curriculum in order to be successful in the classroom.
Facilitating small group math instruction, both within and outside of the classroom.
Collaborating with the homeroom teachers to make plans and referrals for students in need of math support.
Providing professional development for teachers when necessary
Providing feedback to teachers on a regular basis.
Communicating with parents on a regular basis.
Attending regular meetings with the Division Principal & the Math Coordinator, when necessary
Monitoring that the information about students is updated regularly.
