De La Salle Academy is a private, independent, non-sectarian middle school located in Manhattan. The school’s student body includes youngsters from all five boroughs of New York City. De La Salle is the only private, independent school in New York City for academically talented, economically less advantaged boys and girls in grades six through eight.
De La Salle Academy seeks a part-time seventh grade mathematics teacher for Maternity Leave Coverage from March – June of 2019. The ideal candidate’s responsibilities will include teaching seventh grade mathematics five days per week. Potential candidates should be aligned with the school’s commitment to develop each child’s mind, body, heart and spirit both inside and outside the classroom.
Teach three sections of 7th grade mathematics
Grading assignments, projects, quizzes and tests
Maintain close communication with department chair, grade coordinator and senior leadership team
Bachelor’s degree – in a STEM field.
Understanding of Algebra (Working with and graphing functions, order of operations, working with polynomials) and basic Geometry (Area and volume, properties of triangles).
Experience working with diverse student populations preferred
Excellent written and communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Willingness and desire to mentor students
Ability to differentiate instruction
Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators
