Pinewood Preparatory School (Summerville, SC) seeks a new High School Math Teacher starting in August 2019.
The High School Math Teacher will teach high school math courses ranging from Honors Algebra I through AP Calculus and Honors Statistics. The candidate for this position will be expected to design and maintain a classroom environment favorable to students’ academic and personal growth and to establish effective rapport with students while maintaining proper classroom management.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Teach high school math courses, including AP Calculus, incorporating various instructional and assessment techniques.
Provide math help after school two days a week.
Diversify curriculum and differentiate instructional strategies for various academic levels.
Create a classroom environment that actively engages students and is developmentally appropriate for the age, maturity, and interests of the students.
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior per school guidelines.
Serve as a homeroom advisor within the school’s advisement program.
Serve as advisor and chaperone for Pinewood’s math team. Coordinate for the math team to participate in the SCISA math team competition in the 2019-2020 school year, with the expectation of participating in additional competitions after the first year.
Perform other related duties as directed by the Head of School, Heads of Middle and High Schools, and the Head of the Math Department.
Core Qualifications and Credentials:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in High School Math Education, or closely related field.
Experience teaching in an independent school environment would be helpful.
