Poly Prep seeks applicants for a Middle School Mathematics Support Teacher at our Dyker Heights campus. The list below is meant to highlight the important responsibilities inherent in teaching at Poly Prep Middle School. It does not, however, represent 100% of what teachers do on a day-to-day basis. Other tasks arise and teachers are expected to fulfill all duties to the highest standards of competence, skill, and efficiency. Ideal candidates will hold a master’s degree in mathematics and education.
Teaching responsibilities include:
Work closely with head classroom teachers to provide remediation and enrichment to students in grades 5-8 using a combination of co-teaching and pull-out models
Help assess student progress and maintain records
Attend parent/teacher conferences - lead some conferences as experience and need dictate - to be determined in conjunction with head teacher and Head of the Middle School
Participate in weekly team meetings
After consulting with head teacher, communicate additionally with families about student performance when needed
Administer ERB exams or other standardized tests as determined by the administration and teaching team
Participate in all class field trips
Administrative responsibilities include:
With head teacher, assist in writing progress reports
Participate in teacher duties such as advising, supervising grade-level break time, and lunch dismissal
Attend faculty meetings
Attend faculty professional development days and other school functions
