Hornet Summer Bridge developmental math instructors will provide focused instruction in mathematics to provide students with an accelerated approach to develop foundational skills needed for success in subsequent college-level math courses.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in Summer Bridge Orientation and Staff Development
Evaluate student progress and assess student preparedness for college level courses
Implement the course syllabus to be used during the summer program with fidelity
Provide meaning activities that will strengthen computational and problem solving skills
Provide frequent and on-going feedback to students regarding their progress in the course
Refer students to ARC for tutoring support on an as needed basis to ensure content mastery
Communicate on a daily basis with tutoring staff
To prepare students for college level mathematics courses
Able to make a five week commitment to the Summer Bridge (Friday, July 12- Friday, August 16, 2019)
Education & Experience Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess the following:
Demonstrated teaching experience
A minimum of a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from an accredited university and tested experience as outlined by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
An earned Master’s degree or 18 graduate hours in the discipline from an accredited university, preferred by not required for this position.
Other Required Skills & Abilities:
Able to effectively build relationships with students
Willing to engage with students in and outside of class
High energy and enthusiastic about the teaching and learning process
Strong belief that all students can achieve at high levels
Participate in a minimum of three cultural field experiences on Friday
Should have adequate sight to engage in word processing, view screens, the ability to climbing stairs, ability to sit for extended periods of time in meetings and observations, etc.
