Lincoln Academy, in Newcastle, ME seeks a full-time mathematics teacher for the 2019-20 school year. Founded in 1801, LA is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the mid-coast communities of central Lincoln County. Serving today as the “high school of record” for eight of these communities, LA currently draws from 15 other area towns as well, accepting all students from those towns. In addition to our local students, the school enrolls up to 90 international and more distant boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students, and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them.
A range of courses from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus BC are offered as part of the mathematics curriculum. The school seeks candidates with demonstrated ability to teach a broad range of these courses to a wide range of students. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and successful teaching experience, preferably at the high school level; evidence of positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents; a willingness to engage in the duties that all members of the LA community share in order to maintain a quality program and to support our boarding and day populations; and a commitment to continued professional development are also important qualifications.

Lincoln Academy has been educating students in the Midcoast region of Maine since 1801. The majority of our 585 students are day students from Newcastle and 19 other towns in the surrounding area. Our boarding program includes 90 students from 19 countries as well as other parts of the U.S.
