Ethical Culture Fieldston School is a progressive PreK-12 independent school that has been serving students from throughout New York City and the surrounding suburbs since 1878. ECFS offers a rich curriculum in the arts, sciences, and humanities. A co-ed, nonsectarian school, it serves a diverse community of about 1,700 students on two campuses -- one in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, and the other in Manhattan. The Fieldston Middle campus located in Riverdale is comprised of approximately 400 students in Grades 6-8th.

Currently, we have a full-time position as a Math Teacher.
The ideal math candidate is knowledgeable about and has experience with differentiated instructional and assessment practices, is comfortable with working with a wide range of academic capabilities, is open to their own continued professional growth, and understands how to instruct students with a growth mindset in mathematics.
Teach a course load of 4 sections.
Serving as an advisor to a group of 10-14 students.
Working as a member of a grade-level interdisciplinary team.
Attending faculty meetings.
Other shared middle school responsibilities as assigned.
Ideal candidates have experience employing a range of pedagogical approaches and will be excited by the opportunity to teach a diverse student body in a values based community. The ideal candidate has also demonstrated a commitment to addressing issues of equity, belonging, and privilege, within and outside the classroom. A passion for working with middle school students, a flexible attitude, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a sense of humor are essential.
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education or a quantitative field required, Masters degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years of prior, relevant classroom teaching experience teaching math through at least Algebra 1 or higher with middle school students preferred.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
An understanding and commitment to cultural competency and how to support a diverse student population.
Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in the use technology, including Smartboards and Google platform.
