The Seven Hills School is seeking an energetic and creative elementary teacher with a concentration in math instruction. This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of math skill development for grades K-5. The responsibilities include providing support for students at each grade level and collaborating with classroom teachers grades 1-5 to extend the math concepts while integrating other disciplines for real life application of those skills through project-based challenges.
At Seven Hills we enjoy a smaller classroom size and a diverse student body. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing quality education in a collaborative environment for both faculty and students. Professional development is a priority for the growth of our faculty. Faculty are encouraged to participate in growth experiences each year through a generously supported fund specifically for that purpose.
As a warm, diverse, and inclusive community, Seven Hills welcomes applications from candidates of color and from underrepresented backgrounds.
Ideally, the candidate will have experience in working closely with colleagues in an integrated team-teaching model as well as experience differentiating instruction to meet the needs of a gifted, but diverse student body. A candidate with experience creating a STEM curriculum and working with students in this capacity is essential for the Project Math program that incorporates components of STEM in this project based program. Each grade level meets in the math lab weekly to collaborate on a project that unites the objectives of a unit they are studying in social studies, science, math or other subjects with concepts related to engineering, technology, science and math. An example of a project might include learning about the physics of bridge building through a small group, hands-on process, exploring existing bridges around the world and culminating in recreating an existing bridge anywhere in the world.
Candidates must have a minimum of an undergraduate degree and the appropriate certification. An advanced degree and experience with this age level is preferred. Previous experience in classroom differentiation is highly valued to better meet the needs of our able and diverse student body.
