An ideal Upper School Mathematics Teacher is dynamic, has the ability to teach all levels of mathematics courses from Algebra I through Calculus, and is interested in developing strong problem-solving and communication competencies in students. The teacher will work with students in grades 9 - 12.
Inspiring, engaging, and encouraging students in the study of mathematics
Using professional growth opportunities to continually grow as a mathematics educator
Working collaboratively with colleagues within the mathematics department and with members of the science, computer science, and/or engineering departments
Incorporating the use of technology in the classroom; including, but not limited to, the use of calculators and spreadsheets to solve problems
Master's Degree preferred
3-5 years experience teaching mathematics to students in grades 9-12
Proficient in the use of technology tools, including but not limited to the use of the TI-Nspire calculator, Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel; proficiency with computer programming preferred, but not required
Subject matter expertise required, preferably through second-year Calculus
