The Classroom Teacher will lead a 6th grade class and teach math and science to 5th and 6th grade middle school students. He or she should possess the subject content knowledge, pedagogy, and Pennsylvania Academic Standards to guide instruction. The teacher will effectively use resources, materials and technology in planning lessons, insure that student learning is aligned with instructional goals, and utilize classroom routines and procedures that result in little or no loss in instructional time. The Classroom Teacher should be reasonably flexible and responsive in meeting the learning needs of students, and able to clearly communicate procedures and explanations.
The Classroom Teacher should be available to participate in, and support, school events, and to take advantage of opportunities for professional growth and development.
Minimum Bachelor of Arts or Science in Education or related field;
Teacher certification achieved or in process;
One year of experience in middle school is preferred;
Knowledge of Professional Code of Conduct;
Ability to model and teach conflict resolution skills;
Ability to work sensitively with urban youth.
