Cushing Academy Summer Session seeks a math instructor for our Connect Program starting July 1, 2019.
Teaching responsibilities include:
-In consult with the Program Coordinator, read and assess all student learning profiles and any available testing.
-Assist in the testing and leveling of students at the start of the program.
-Teach two, one-hour math classes each school day. With a preview or review of algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and/or precalculus, these classes focus on skill-based instruction to build mathematical competence, including study skills and test preparation strategies.
-Support students in a one-hour skills workshop. These workshops are designed to enhance mathematic skill development using assessments, content, and assignments from the morning math classes.
-Closely monitor student progress throughout the session. Communicate and partner with the Program Coordinator to develop plans to support students in all aspects of the learning process.
-Daily class preparation, including assessments, homework assignments, grading, and mid- and end-of-term comment writing.
Other duties include:
Participation in orientation sessions
Student arrival duties
Supervision of social activities
Student departure duties
On-campus housing and all meals provided.
If circumstances warrant, this position can be modified to "teaching only", without the residency requirement and attendant duties.
Minimum of a bachelor's degree required.
