Rocky Hill School, a private, independent day school for students in grades PK-12 located on the shores of Narragansett Bay in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, 20 minutes south of Providence, seeks a full-time Upper School math teacher to begin August 20, 2019.
Rocky Hill School’s educational approach recognizes that every student learns academic content when it is presented in a way that values their particular learning profile, their social and emotional development, and their growth in the eight Rocky Hill Student Competencies: navigation, citizenship, critical thinking, communication, innovation, ethics, global-mindedness, and self-awareness.
This position requires the ability to teach math courses at all levels, 9-12, in a learning environment of small classes and a 1:1 laptop program.
Ideal candidates for teaching at RHS are able to collaborate easily and naturally with others, while also being self-directed. A knowledge of project-based learning, or other progressive or innovative pedagogical approaches, is preferred. Specifically, RHS seeks candidates who are enthusiastic about contemporary, constructivist approaches to teaching math.
Rocky Hill School’s faculty also work as advisers, and candidates should demonstrate the ability to connect with students to develop healthy and supportive relationships.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in math or a comparable field, with a master’s degree preferred, and two or more years of teaching experience.
Candidates must exhibit strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and be willing to participate fully in Rocky Hill School's community.
