We are seeking a Middle School Math Teacher who will be responsible for helping to continue this tradition and fulfill our mission—to promote academic excellence and strength of character in a nurturing environment grounded in Hellenic culture and Christian values that cultivates scholars who will mature into responsible citizens and real-world problem solvers.
A. Fantis serves students from PreK3 through 8th grade, including UPK4. With just one class per grade and a community of alumni that spans generations, Fantis creates a small, familiar environment where each child is recognized as a unique individual. Our Hellenic Studies Department provides daily instruction in Greek language, culture, literature and history. The Department also coordinates school performances and special events, such as the Grade 8 trip to Athens and cultural exchange program. Religious studies are every week and liturgy once a month at Sts. Constantine and Helen Cathedral. Our Middle School Department consists of Chairs in Math, Science, English and Social Studies. Our eighth grade students pass the Regents in Algebra, Living Systems and Greek and continue their education in a variety of high schools, including specialized, independent, Catholic and public.
The A. Fantis School Board is currently implementing a transformational five-year strategic plan that seeks to raise the community from one of the top parochial schools to simply one of the best schools in NYC. This includes Project-Based-Learning with an interdisciplinary focus. In order to realize this vision, the School Board is fully focused on developing and supporting faculty by partnering with universities, educators and scientists from Bank Street to Vanderbilt University. We are nurturing a school culture of ongoing professional development that includes workshops, virtual training and Professional Learning Communities.

Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Creating and communicating with families in a positive and respectful manner
Developing a positive and structured classroom environment that engages students and motivates them to succeed
Assuming responsibility for the academic progress of students with a high sense of urgency and ownership towards quantifiable results
Developing effective lessons that correlate with our curriculum, goals, and objectives
Collaborating with colleagues in various capacities, including planning, evaluating student growth, mentoring, lesson observations and
Taking accountability for student learning and meeting classroom performance goals
Using assessments, classroom performance and other designated evaluation and diagnostic tools to assess the progress of students, and drive instruction and intervention
Participating in ongoing professional development to grow as an instructional leader
Fulfilling the school’s mission to educate the whole child, mind, body, and spirit
Helping instill a deep understanding and respect for Christian values and principles
Performance will be measured by:
Contributing to and implementing a well-defined curriculum that draws upon best practices for early childhood education
Ability to collaborate with faculty and other partners
Achieving high levels of engagement from students, enabling them to develop to the fullest extent of their individual talents and passion
Working effectively with administration, faculty and families
Capacity to set, monitor, evaluate and meet student outcomes for growth based on standards agreed upon by the school community

Effectively managing responsibilities for both the classroom and school

Salary: $45,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year
Qualifications and Skills
Proven excellence as an educator who can inspire and engage children
Capacity to assist in developing lessons, units and curriculum in collaboration with faculty and other partners
Maintaining a working knowledge of and familiarity with educational standards and benchmarks in your subject area
Knowledge of adolescent development, pedagogy and instructional strategies
Capacity to accurately reflect on one’s practice and engage in a professional community that strives for continued excellence
NYS or reciprocal teaching certification
