General Description of Responsibilities:
The Mathematics faculty is a creative, learner-centered, flexible, and knowledgeable individual who teaches courses in the Mathematics Department, ranging from Pre-algebra through all levels of Calculus to a diverse student body. The faculty will be teaching project based courses to both liberal arts and STEM students. The faculty member will work with STEM division administration and faculty to develop student learning outcomes and assessment strategies, and will participate in college service and student advisement. The faculty member must be committed to inclusive excellence and diversity, and continuous professional improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Teaches courses in Mathematics, ranging from Pre-algebra through all levels of Calculus, including math courses that focus on quantitative analysis and reasoning, such as Statistics and Math for Liberal Arts majors.
Apply current mathematics standards and practices in the classroom, and emphasize math within the context of real-life situations.
Explore new pedagogies that accelerate and contextualize developmental instruction such as co-requisite models.
Develop and apply a variety of instructional methods that engage a diverse student body of varying learning styles, backgrounds and abilities.
Develop instructional material consistent with course, program and institutional student learning outcomes and apply innovative instructional approaches, in order to achieve stated course objectives and student learning outcomes.
Teach developmental mathematics in a facilitative emporium model.
Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize learning and measure student learning outcomes at the course, department, and institutional level.
Develop and apply technology in and out of the classroom.
Participate in ongoing curriculum review, assessment, and development.
Develop instructional material consistent with course, program and institutional student learning outcomes and apply innovative instructional approaches, in order to achieve student learning outcomes.
Develop and apply instructional methods that engage a diverse student body of varying learning styles and abilities, and promote critical thinking and other employability skills.
Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and effectively measure student learning outcomes.
Incorporate high impact practices such as learning communities and undergraduate research.
Participate in math department initiatives.
Participate in division and college committees and activities.
Move freely between campuses.
Work collegially with faculty from all different disciplines.
Provide developmental advising to help students assess their skills, interests and aptitudes; identify realistic career goals; and develop an educational plan.
Advise students majoring in STEM disciplines.

Other duties as assigned and in accordance with the contract.
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, plus a Master's degree in a related field or Education; OR Bachelor's degree in any field, plus a Master's degree in a STEM field, both requirements with at least 18 credit-hours of graduate-level mathematics. Master's degree earned/conferred by 6/30/2020.
Successful academic classroom teaching experience in Mathematics.
Ability to apply innovative instructional approaches, in order to achieve stated course objectives and student learning outcomes.
Experience with the use of graphing calculators and various math technology and software in college-level math classes.
Demonstrated capacity to use a diverse range of effective student-centered instructional strategies and openness to adopting new practices.
Commitment to continuous professional improvement.
Ability to collaborate and work collegially with faculty from all disciplines.
A demonstrated interest in the use of inclusive pedagogies and high impact practices to foster student success and close achievement gaps.
Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Successful community college teaching experience.
Proficiency in the Blackboard Learning Management System to develop and implement online courses.
Experience with the use of technology-mediated instruction and other innovative pedagogies to teach developmental math courses.
Ability to teach higher-level Math courses, such as Differential Equations and Multi-variable Calculus.
Student advising experience.
Commitment to the assessment of student learning objectives and student success outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement high impact practices such as learning communities, undergraduate research, service learning/civic engagement and collaborative projects as part of pedagogical practices.
This is a full-time faculty position with benefits.
Salary: The Full-Time Faculty salary under the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement is based on the classification placement table with a base salary of $47,854; actual salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of the MCCC/MTA Agreement based on the candidate's academic credentials, related experience, related licenses and certifications.
