The First Program (K-3) at the Dalton School is seeking a Math Specialist for the 2020-2021 school year. The Math Specialist will report to the Math Coordinator and is responsible for supporting effective K-3 mathematics instruction and student learning. The Math Specialist’s primary goal is to work with students who need intervention. This may involve teaching mathematics to elementary students in one or more grade levels. In addition, the Math Specialist will work with groups of students to provide enrichment support services.
Creating individual instructional plans for students needing support
Implementing the Bridges and Context for Learning math programs
Creating extension work for students who need enrichment
Using formative and summative assessments to gauge student progress
Interacting with parents

Minimum of three years relevant experience teaching math in elementary grades
Extensive experience with Context For Learning, Bridges and other progressive resources
Facility with creating new content in Google Docs and documenting curriculum in Google Drive
Deep and broad understanding of mathematical content, including the specialized knowledge needed for teaching
Solid knowledge of the development of elementary students
Expertise in using effective instructional and assessment practices informed by knowledge of mathematical learning trajectories
Knowledge and communication skills required for working with adults
