A postdoctoral research associate position is available inthe Spatial Analysis Lab in the National Institute of Mathematical andBiological Synthesis (NIMBioS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Thisposition is funded by the US Forest Service and the postdoctoral mentors areDr. Todd Schroeder (USFS FIA Program firstname.lastname@example.org)and Dr. Monica Papes (Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology andNIMBioS email@example.com). The project willfocus on characterizing forest structure and biomass from National AgricultureImagery Program (NAIP) digital surface model (DSM) data acquired in 2018 forTennessee and Virginia.
Thepostdoctoral associate will be expected to develop plot-level accuracyassessments, state-wide evaluations of post-stratified forest volume andbiomass estimates, and R code or specialized methodologies to process and/oranalyze the various spatial data sets. Additional possible topics of researchinclude forest structure metrics from terrestrial, airborne, or spacebornelidar.
