Founded in 1952, Norwood School is a coeducational, independent day school with approximately 450 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Starting in the 2020-2021 school year, Norwood has an opening for an experienced and dynamic 3rd and 4th grade reading, language arts, and math teacher to co-teach these subjects with homeroom teacher partners. Successful candidates will have experience developing the academic and social-emotional growth of students within the upper elementary age range. In this position, the teacher collaborates with 3rd and 4th grade homeroom teachers to teach reading, language arts, and math. Strong applicants will have a deep commitment to child-centered instruction and a demonstrated knowledge of Readers and Writers Workshop Units of Study. Prior experience with the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum is preferred. Strong candidates will have demonstrated experience in highly-collaborative instructional environments.
Applicants for the position must have at least three years of experience working with students in upper elementary grades. Strong applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse, inclusive school setting with a child-centered pedagogy. Additional qualifications include excellent communication skills, flexibility, sense of humor, and a love for working with children.
