St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Upper School Mathematics Teacher.
Position Begins: mid-August 2020 Status: Full-time, Exempt Department: Instructional, Upper School
SPA has recently opened the Hugh K. Schilling Math and Science Center, a $25 million dollar facility which provides distinctive, state-of-the-art resources for math, science, computer science, robotics, and engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teaching professional to collaborate towards shaping and growing a dynamic program. This is an on-going, full-time appointment.
For this position, we seek candidates who are prepared and excited to teach high school mathematics up to the highest levels (Calculus, Statistics, Data Science and post-Calculus electives). Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability and desire to teach these subjects in innovative, accessible, and differentiated ways to bright and motivated students. We also seek candidates who are enthusiastic about the prospect of working with colleagues to build the future of mathematics and other STEM curricula in St. Paul Academy’s Upper School.
As importantly, we seek a candidate who has a demonstrated passion for working with young people and who will approach their role as an advisor with a drive to better understand the emotional needs of their students and support a program where self-reflection, empathy, and flexibility are the goals. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Candidates should support the mission of SPA, the vision of the Upper School, and be eager to join a professional community where collaboration is valued and where openness to growth is the norm.
