Rodeph Sholom School (RSS) is an independent Nursery through 8th Grade Jewish Reform day school. RSS is the largest feeder school in Manhattan and places students into the New York City independent and highly select public high schools. RSS has a rigorous independent school curriculum infused with Jewish values. Our graduates are socially responsible individuals who place into upper level courses and take on a multitude of leadership roles at their ongoing high schools.
The Middle School division of RSS (grades 5-8) is seeking exceptional candidates to teach math/science. Curriculum ranges from regular and honors math, biology and environmental science, to geology, chemistry and physics. The ideal candidate is an experienced classroom teacher who is able to differentiate instruction and design interactive lessons. Teachers must be willing to teach any Middle School grade level. All classrooms have SMARTBoards and there is a one to one laptop program. Facility with these technologies as well as Google Drive is preferred. Knowledge of coding, robotics, and maker space technologies is a plus. Teachers also serve as advisors; in this capacity, advisors meet with a small group of students every day and oversee their day-to-day lives. Duties may include, but are not limited to: helping students organize materials, teaching students how to ask questions and advocate for themselves, reinforcing the school’s values, helping students navigate social situations and serving as the communication.
