: We are seeking Educational Support Specialist for Math in our Academic Resource Center. Opening in 2004, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is part of a reciprocal effort with the Qatar Foundation to bring excellent American educational undergraduate programs to the Middle East. The Academic Resource Center (ARC) provides academic support to students in their relevant area (computer programming, mathematics, biology/science, business, statistics, writing/English). This position primarily focuses on providing support for undergraduate students enrolled in CMUQ Math specific courses, but may also include larger department course offerings. This position focuses on classes that primarily freshman would be enrolled in. Minimum qualifications/ Education/training: Undergraduate degree in a relevant area and experience working with undergraduate students. A MS in related field is preferred. Experience: Previous tutoring/teaching experience in an academic institution. Skills/abilities: * Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to teach relevant subject fundamentals and explain complex concepts; * Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously; * Strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills; * Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment; * Ability to work under pressure and attention to detail, be able to meet deadlines; * Capable of dealing with difficult individuals while maintaining composure; * Strong patience and commitment to students are also essential.
