Canton Country Day School is seeking a part-time Sixth-grade Math Teacher. This teacher holds primary responsibility for the implementation and development of the sixth-grade math curriculum and the success of its students. There is one math class per day. The Sixth-grade Math Teacher is committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level departmental team.
Create unit plans that reflect sequential learning with differentiated activities based on students’ knowledge and skills
Collaborate positively and respectfully with members of the middle school team, the language arts and social studies department, other colleagues, school administrators and parents.
Uses multiple tools to assess student learning on an ongoing basis, and alters instruction to meet group and individual needs
Maintains order within the classroom and school with proactive classroom management and a well-organized learning environment
Maintains records of student performance and communicates this effectively with students and their parents
Selects and uses a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the needs of all students
Stays abreast of current educational trends and best practices as these relate to classroom instruction and effective schools
Maintains professional manner when interacting with students, parents, patrons, community agencies and colleagues
Incorporates and models appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning.
Attends school, department, and other committee meetings as required
Participates in the life of the School by engaging in activities such as attending assemblies.

Bachelor or advanced degree in mathematics, a related field, or a field relevant to the duties of the position
Knowledge of the National and Ohio Mathematics Standards and incorporate them into their curriculum.
Preference will be given to those certified in mathematics and those trained in the Responsive Classroom approach where one’s approach to teaching and discipline focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness
Demonstrable expertise in math assessment data required. Prior experience of NWEA MAP assessment preferred, including the use of online resources
Candidates should have demonstrated success teaching to a range of learners and at least two years’ prior teaching experience
Experience teaching upper elementary or middle school math is required
Experience with STEM curriculum is preferred
