Sugar Bowl Academy, an independent day and boarding school for competitive Freeride, Nordic, and Alpine skiers in grades 8-12 in the Lake Tahoe area, seeks a full-time math teacher with the ability to teach all levels of math and at least one of the core sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate deep content knowledge in math and a lifelong love of math and science;
Possess the ability to adjust learning plans to accommodate and support learning on the road;
Differentiate teaching and learning based on students’ cognitive needs;
Independently and actively present curriculum that balances content mastery and conceptual understanding;
Develop creative formative and summative assessments and experiences to evaluate student learning;
Employ innovative student-centered teaching practices rooted in brain-based research;
Create and scaffold rigorous, higher-level thinking tasks that emphasize critical thinking;
Provide opportunities for student self-assessment and engagement in the learning process;
Exhibit a passion to teach and learn from young people and colleagues.
A B.A. in math, science, or a related field required.
Proficiency with the Google Suite of products required.
A Master’s degree and 3 or more years of teaching experience preferred.
