Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (DSLCC) seeks a full-time Mathematics Instructor beginning August 16, 2021. DSLCC is a member of the Virginia Community College system and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) and serves students in the Virginia counties of Rockbridge, Alleghany, Bath and Botetourt with facilities located in the cities of Buena Vista and Clifton Forge, VA. This is a full-time position with benefits and carries the classification of âœTeaching Facultyâ as described in Virginia Community College System policy. Teaching Faculty are evaluated in the domains of teaching, scholarly and creative engagement, service, and institutional responsibility. DSLCC is seeking a dynamic individual who can provide instruction in the areas of developmental mathematics, college algebra, statistics, pre-calculus and calculus.The ability to teach physics is preferred but not required.
Master's in mathematics or related field with at least 18 credit hours of graduate mathematics courses.Classroom experience is required. Applicants should be prepared to teach developmental mathematics, college algebra, statistics, pre-calculus and calculus. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of curriculum and program development. • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. • Skill in instructing students from diverse culture and/or backgrounds. • Skill in integrating technology into curriculum. • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects. • Ability to work independently. • Ability to analyze problems, identifies solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems while following college policies and procedures. • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students and the public.
