Middle School Mathematics Teacher and Math Support Specialist (2021-22 SY)

The Packer Collegiate Institute invites applicants interested in teaching in our Middle School Math Department and coordinating with our Middle School Math Support program. The position’s responsibilities will be half-time teaching with advising responsibilities and half-time in the support specialist role.

Applicants for the position should possess:

Math Support Specialist

• A desire to work with students in a small-group setting
• Ability to adapt instruction to students’ individual learning needs in 5th through 8th grade
• Experience with educational testing profiles, accommodations, and differentiated instruction
• A willingness to collaborate with both math teachers and learning specialists to determine how to best support students in a wide range of courses

Mathematics Teacher

• Prior experience teaching mathematics to Middle School students
• Experience and demonstrated success in implementing an inquiry-based, student-centered instructional approach
• A commitment to anti-bias and anti-racism work both inside and outside the math classroom as well as promoting an inclusive, just, and equitable school community
• A genuine desire to collaborate with colleagues
• A sincere and visible commitment to excellent teaching, utilization of best math teaching practices, and continued professional development
• Understanding of the cognitive, social and emotional development of Middle School math learners
• Comfort with and interest in working with students in an advisory capacity
