Upper School Math Teacher (January 2021)

Brandon Hall School seeks an experienced and dynamic Math Teacher for an immediate start in January 2021. The full-time position includes teaching Geometry and Statistics courses with the potential for teaching and/or proposing electives.

The ideal candidate will have independent and/or boarding school teaching experience, demonstrate excellent technology and communication skills, and have a strong desire to contribute to school life beyond the classroom. There may also be an opportunity for the candidate to reside in school housing.

Math Department Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
• Know, understand, and apply the process of mathematical problem solving.
• Reason, construct, and evaluate mathematical arguments and develop an appreciation for mathematical rigor and inquiry.
• Communicate mathematical thinking orally and in writing to students, colleagues, and others.
• Recognize, use, and make connections between and among mathematical ideas and in contexts outside mathematics to build mathematical understanding.
• Use varied representations of mathematical ideas to support and deepen students’ mathematical understanding.
• Embrace technology as an essential tool for teaching and learning mathematics.
• Support a positive disposition toward mathematical processes and mathematical learning.
• Work collaboratively with other departments and faculty members to enhance student learning experiences.
