Lower School Math Coordinator

William Penn Charter School, a co-ed, pre-K-12 independent Quaker day school, seeks a full-time Lower School Math Coordinator to begin in the 2021-22 academic year. Applicants must possess an undergraduate or graduate degree in education or a related field (an advanced degree is preferred). Candidates must also have at least five years of experience teaching lower school children and supporting students with diverse learning profiles. The Math Coordinator will partner with colleagues to provide an engaging math program and find creative approaches to enhance our existing curriculum. Prior experience with Math in Focus or Singapore Math is strongly preferred.

The successful candidate will also embrace student-centered pedagogy, model curiosity and a desire for professional growth, and exhibit a willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues. Additionally, they will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion both in their teaching practice and in building relationships. The ability to guide teachers in differentiating instruction and working closely and compassionately with families is central to this role. Familiarity with the principles and practices of Quakerism and Quaker education is desirable.

Responsibilities of the Math Coordinator include:

• Oversee the scope and sequence and pace of the Lower School math curriculum Pre-K-5
• Co-teach math lessons and work with students individually or in small groups
• Monitor student progress and oversee the math support and enrichment plans for students
• Develop and maintain a system of data collection to inform instruction and track progress
• Work collaboratively with the Lower School Director, Lower School Learning Team, and teachers to adjust and refine the Lower School math curriculum
• Provide math related professional development for colleagues and parent education workshops
• Communicate with parents regarding student support plans, math interventions, and recommend math tutors
• Other duties as assigned by the Lower School Director
