Mission: Waring School is a co-educational, college preparatory day school of 150 students, grades 6-12 in Beverly, MA. Waring’s mission is “To create and sustain a community of lifelong learners who are working together for the individual and common good.” Summary: Waring School seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative teacher of mathematics who is looking to thrive in a small learning community. Depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, the position may include teaching up to three sections of middle school and high school mathematics or high school mathematics and a computer science course. We will especially consider applicants with experience and interest in teaching upper secondary courses, such as Algebra II and Precalculus. Other responsibilities could include teaching science depending on interest and experience (see related posting). Candidates with background and interest in also teaching science, engineering, or other STEM disciplines are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is a life-time learner looking to thrive in a small learning community. Our classes are small where collaboration and discussion are encouraged. We seek to not only develop math skills, but also persistence and flexibility in problem solving. As Waring faculty this teacher’s role may also involve other aspects of the student experience such as Athletics, Advising (through Tutorial program), Math co-curricular activities, Experiential Learning (through our Endterm and Camping Trip programs), Robotics, Debate, Theater, and more. Note: Those interested in a part-time position with some of these responsibilities are encouraged to apply, since this role could potentially be shared between two part-time employees. Salary is commensurate with experience.
