Math Teacher

Worcester Preparatory School seeks an experienced full-time Algebra I & II teacher.

This position reports to both the Head of Upper School and the Head of Middle School.

What You’ll Do

The Middle and Upper School Math Teacher assumes the responsibility for providing learning experiences in math and supervision of students in a supportive and positive climate that develops in each student the skills, attitudes, and knowledge to meet and exceed in the classroom.  Achieving academic excellence requires that the Math Teacher work collaboratively with other members of the school faculty, staff, and with parents.

• Administer and develop Math specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans
• Instruct students for the purpose of improving his/her success in academics through a defined course of study
• Monitor students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment
• Assist with the preparation for SAT and ACT prep
• Plan a balanced curriculum and organize daily class time so that preparation and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time
• Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment at all times
• Mark and evaluate each student’s growth assessing each individual’s contribution to the class
• Prepare a variety of written materials (e.g. lesson plans, grades, correspondence with parents and students, examinations and quizzes, attendance, etc.)
• Maintain professional competence through self-selected professional growth activities
• Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs
• Maintain an attractive, stimulating learning environment
• Participate in in-service workshops, meetings, sessions and all other defined activities, as well as, other areas of school life
