Charles Wright Academy (CWA), located on a beautiful, wooded 107-acre campus,
serves students in preschool through 12th grade. The only coeducational independent preschool-12

CWA is safely operating in an in-person/hybrid education model, prepared to adapt to remote learning for any part of the 2021-22 year that is needed. We have resources available for training and preparation for faculty in best practices in remote teaching and learning.

Summary:
A Middle School full-time teacher teaches four sections of class and serves as a student advisor. In addition, they lead an extracurricular responsibility and have opportunities for an additional class or coaching for an added stipend. This position includes four sections of middle school (6-8) Math with the option for a 5th section of Math.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Use a variety of instructional methods to create dynamic, engaging lessons, which support the diversity of learners within the classroom including on-campus and remote learners over Zoom.
  • Collaborate with the Math department and grade level teams to design and implement the curriculum that prepares students for our Upper School program.
  • Collaborate with the MS team to support the social and emotional growth of the students within the community.
  • Impart enthusiasm for learning and inspire students to participate fully in the learning process.
  • Foster student growth of moral character.
  • Provide and maintain a stimulating, safe classroom environment.
  • Practice respectful and effective classroom management techniques, which support active learning and promote responsibility.
  • Collaborate effectively with parents and guardians.
  • Collaborate with the Middle School faculty to support positive student behavior for all Middle School students.
  • Report to MS Co-Directors and attend faculty and community meetings.
  • Other supervision duties as needed.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have earned a bachelor’s degree in math; master’s degree preferred. Demonstrated, effective middle school teaching experience is preferred, and the candidate must have a passion for math and the ability to deliver interesting, engaging science lessons.
 
Essential elements for the position include the ability to inspire young people, the capacity to work cooperatively with peers, a keenness for working with Middle School students, and a joyful sense of humor. Candidates should be able to work flexibly with various educational technologies and a familiarity with Google G-Suite for education and Mac hardware/systems is preferred.
