Commonwealth Academy is currently seeking to hire summer school teachers in the subject areas of Spanish, Math, and Science to join its team for the summer of 2021. Candidates applying for this position must be prepared to work on-campus and virtually at any point during the summer.
As a summer school teacher, you will develop content and lead academic for-credit classes. The goal of our summer school is to give high school students the opportunity to earn academic credits needed to graduate. Our summer school teachers interact with our students throughout the entire day, helping them learn while also caring for their well-being. The role of a summer school teacher is to lead, teach, build relationships, and have fun while ensuring the physical and emotional safety of every child.
Our C/A Summer School program runs daily from June 21st to July 30th. Each for-credit class is held for four hours at a time, and specific class time depends on the number of courses offered and students enrolled. Salary is based on experience and qualifications. Strong understanding and background in the content area
Ability to work with children to grow in character, experiences, and insights
Ability to guard the health and well-being of campers at all times
Prior experience working with children
Enthusiastic, responsible, dependable, flexible, and calm in all situations
Undergraduate degree in related content area
CPR/First Aid Certified OR willing to become certified before the summer begins
Summer Teacher Responsibilities
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff
Plan, organize, and execute engaging instruction and assessments
Review, grade, and catalog student work
Provide a safe, structured, and positive experience for students
Cooperate with C/A Summer Director, fellow teachers, and C/A Summer camp instructors
Support C/A Summer Director in establishing rules and emergency procedures with campers
Help out where needed and lead activities when asked to by the C/A Summer Director
